Actor Anthony Mackie will receive a job promotion on his next Marvel movie.
The man who played the Falcon in six MCU movies and the Disney + series “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” has agreed to be the new Captain America in an upcoming movie tentatively (and sensibly) titled “Captain America 4.”
This casting announcement is not unexpected: Mackie’s Marvel character Sam Wilson became the Captain in the latest episode of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”
But nevertheless, Deadline reports that details about the new film are still under wraps, including the role, if any, that Winter Soldier actor Sebastian Stan could play.
What’s more, Variety speculates that Wyatt Russell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Mackie’s partners in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” could be in the movie.
No director has been announced, but the movie is being written by the writer and lead creator of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” Malcolm Spellmanand series writer Dalan Musson.
It may be a long time before the new movie hits theaters.
Variety noted that Marvel’s roster is so packed with new movies, such as “Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings,” “Eternals,” and “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” that “Captain America 4” might not. be released until sometime in 2023.
