Neeraj Chopra wins gold at the Tokyo Olympics: Cheers from all sides to star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra, who created history by winning what is only India’s second individual gold medal at the Olympics on Saturday. His is also the first track and field Games medal for the country.

Wishing Chopra his stupendous victory, Prime Minister Modi said that the javelin thrower’s achievement will be remembered forever. Congratulating him on his gold medal, Prime Minister Modi tweeted: “History has been written in Tokyo! What @ Neeraj_chopra1 has accomplished today will be remembered forever. Young Neeraj has done exceptionally well. He played with remarkable passion and showed incomparable courage. Congratulations to him for winning the Gold. # Tokyo2020 ”

Prime Minister Modi also congratulated the gold medal-winning athlete through a phone call.

In his congratulatory message to the javelin thrower, President Ram Nath Kovind said that his feat will inspire the youth of India.

The Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Bipin Rawat, said that Neeraj Chopra has made the Armed Forces and the nation proud. “Neeraj Chopra has shown that when there is a will, there is a way. He has made the Armed Forces and the nation proud like so many other Olympians who have created history at Tokyo 2020, ”said General Rawat.

Haryana CM ML Khattar applauded the Panipat boy and announced various honors for him. “Neeraj Chopra will receive 6 million rupees and a category I job according to our policy. We will build a Center of Excellence for athletes in Panchkula, where he will be the boss if he wants. He will be given a plot with a 50% concession, like other players, ”Khattar told ANI.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi also congratulated Neeraj Chopra on winning the country’s first Olympic track and field gold and expressed hope that his victory will motivate all athletes to excel even more. “I join the nation in congratulating the Golden Boy, Neeraj Chopra, on winning India’s first Olympic gold medal in athletics. Olympic Gold is the greatest achievement in the field of sports and Neeraj has made all Indians proud with his devotion, determination and Herculean efforts. Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan called Chopra the “man with the golden arm.”

Neeraj Chopra became the second after shooter Abhinav Bindra to win individual gold for India at the Olympics. With him, India’s medal count rose to seven, surpassing the country’s best previous crop of six medals achieved at the 2012 London Games.
