The PML-N has demanded that action be taken against a man, apparently a PTI supporter, believed to be from Faisalabad constituency NA-108 and who was recorded saying he would kill the party’s deputy chairwoman, Maryam Nawaz, if Imran Khan was illegally arrested.
In a video, posted on Twitter by PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry, the man can be seen alongside PTI leader Qasim Suri. “Trust me, I have told my family that if Imran Khan is illegally arrested, I will kill Maryam,” he says in the video.
“[…] If they illegally arrest a leader”, the man is heard saying, adding that he does not want any position in the party, but that he will not tolerate the illegal arrest of the head of the PTI.
As the man passed along these comments, Suri could be seen smiling, while other people, supposedly PTI supporters, booed and applauded.
Condemning the incident, Chaudhry said that responsibility “for the threats” lay with Imran, who, according to the PML-N leader, was also a candidate for the constituency. “After seeing the defeat, now threats are being launched.”
Chaudhry demanded that the Pakistan Election Commission and the police take immediate action against the man and promised that he would do everything possible to protect the PML-N leaders.
.com has been able to know that so far no complaint of the incident has been registered.
